Careers Connect is NOT a recruitment agency that actively gets involved in the selection process. Careers Connect acts as a 'conduit' to facilitate easy communication between employers/ agencies and university Careers Services and students/ graduates.
Careers Connect is Australia's largest student employment network providing a centralised, web-based resource to graduate recruiters. The only candidates with whom we put employers in touch are those students and graduates who have registered with their own university's Careers Connect system of which there are in excess of 400,000 candidates.
Careers Connect acts as a "clearing house" or distributor of employer's vacancies to all of the participating universities that use Careers Connect software. The majority of universities in Australia use Careers Connect to manage the advertising of jobs, employer profiles, events and other career-related information to their students.
Upon registration of a new entity at www.careersconnect.net.au, perhaps bearing a similar name to another already-registered organisation, you will be alerted by the message, 'The following employers were found that have similar names to the one you entered. If one of these is your organisation then please DO NOT register again as this will cause confusion for students when researching your organisation.'
If your organisation is large enough to have separate HR departments and locations then you can create a separate registration for that Division.
Careers Connect is a centralised web-based resource providing two major services to graduate recruiters: 1) the distribution of job advertisements and 2) Careers Connect Employer Profiles. Job distribution attracts a flat fee as and when it is used. Careers Connect's Employer Profile facility is visible year round and is a separate annual fee.
For more information about pricing see the Services and Prices page.
There is no renewable charge for distribution of job information and advertisements. Employers pay as and when this facility is required. A Careers Connect Employer Profile stays active on the universities' Careers Connect sites for a 12-month period and is renewable one year after the date of activation. We will notify you in advance when your profile should be renewed.
Careers Connect is not bound by print media deadlines. From the time a booking is made to have a your organisation's Careers Connect Employer Profile activated, your Profile will be activated on the universities' Careers Connect sites in a matter of weeks, unless you specify a later date at which to activate it.
You will NOT be able to edit the vacancy after publishing. Since Careers Connect is actually sending content into the universities own 'internal' Careers Connect system then the university has a legal responsibility to check each vacancy and edit. Therefore once checked by university staff the vacancy cannot be edited directly for legal responsibility reasons.
Please ensure that all details are 100 per cent correct before proceeding, if your job has already been published to the universities, then you will need to call the Careers Connect Support Team on 1300 852 112 to discuss the details of your required change request.
You will NOT be able to edit the vacancy after publishing. Please ensure that all details are 100 per cent correct before proceeding. If your job has already been published to the some of the universities but not all of those required, then you will need to call the Careers Connect Support Team on 1300 852 112 to discuss the details of your required change request. This may incur a small fee.
A job advertisement published / distributed to the universities will remain visible for 1 month from the start of the 'publish' date which you specify.
Careers Connect's job distribution facility will prompt you for credit card payment upon completion of publishing that job. Careers Connect Employer Profiles are invoiced separately.
It is also possible to have an account established if you are not able to pay by credit card. To arrange this you will need to contact the Careers Connect support team.
Having a perpetual job advertisement is not an effective way to obtain responses since your job would be superseded by any new job listings and will literally 'fall to the bottom of the heap'. It is far more dynamic to use opening and closing dates in line with your application dates and to keep your distributed job top of mind and fresh in the eyes of potential candidates.
You can re-publish your existing job ads easily by going to your previously listed jobs then click on the 're-publish this job' link. This will create a new job ad which can be edited as required. It is usually a good idea to change the title of the vacancy slightly to keep the job looking a bit 'fresh'. Since it will be a recently published job again it will be flagged as 'new' for students.
Within your Careers Connect employer account you can go to your 'current' or 'expired' job list and then click the 'preview' link. This will display the listing in the same layout as students will see it with the difference being that the student will see it in their own university colours and interface design.
The Careers Connect Industry listing is based on an upper level selection from the Australian Bureau of Statistics standard industry classifications. If you are unsure of where you fit you can refer to the full listing from your employer account, by clicking 'organisation details', 'employment categories' then ANZSIC.
It is common for some occupations eg: Engineering, Consultants to have difficulty with the codes. This is because the ANZSIC codes are well considered and engineering is NOT an Industry but an occupation within an Industry such as Building and Construction.
Log into Careers Connect and, from your employer account, click 'my account', 'invoices / receipts' then click the invoice number to download an invoice. Receipts will be indicated by a zero balance.
Employers registered with Careers Connect can log in to edit their contact details. When you make changes it will automatically be synchronised with your local account at participating university careers services. Log into Careers Connect and, from your employer account, update 'organisation details', 'my details', 'staff contacts' or 'add a staff contact' as and when required.
Simply ensure that you have added that person as a staff contact in your employer account. Their name will then appear in the drop-down menu during the job publishing process.
Because of the proprietorial nature of each university's Careers Connect data, Careers Connect can only provide collective statistical information to employers. Please call Careers Connect Support on 1300 852 112 to discuss your requirements.
Careers Connect is not in a position circulate GPA information without each individual student's consent and in accordance with Australian privacy laws.
Each university's careers service office is unable to provide this information as they are bound by confidentiality agreements.
You could make a fair assumption that most major graduate employers in Australia use Careers Connect, however we do not currently allow access to any other employer details through Careers Connect for respect of your privacy.
Careers Connect can now distribute information to over 75% of Australian universities. More universities are being added every few months. Visit the Careers Connect Network page to view the current list of participating universities. Careers Connect looks forward to keeping you appraised, either by email or at our News Center of newly-activated institutions.
Using your organisation's logon email address, go to Forgot your password? to retrieve your password. If you do not know your organisation's logon email address, call Careers Connect Support on 1300 852 112 for assistance.
Your Careers Connect account will automatically update your local accounts within each institution. However if you do want to log in directly to the local account at one particulary institution (eg: to add or register for an event) then you will need to use the local username and password for that institution. If you do not know this you can use the 'forgotten password' feature in the institution's interface or contact the Careers Service at that institution for assistance.
This procedure is known to be awkward and we are currently working (Jan 2009) on a SSO (single sign on) method so that you only need to use your Careers Connect credentials.
It is very important NOT to create duplicate entries since this will fragment the view of your organisation when students are researching. If you do have duplicate accounts then please contact Careers Connect Support before listing any new items.
If your organisation provides recruitment services or is a recruitment consultancy, please call Careers Connect Support on 1300 852 112 to discuss the benefits of activating the Client Manager facility on your Careers Connect employer account. This is a free service.
Please call Careers Connect Support on 1300 852 112 to change your employer account to be able to pay for job distribution by invoice. Invoices are issued weekly.
You will see the session timeout window. Just enter your login details again and continue editing whatever you were working on.
Log into your Careers Connect account then navigate to the current or expired job and click 'view publish details'. This will then provide you a listing of where the vacancy was published as well as if/ when it was approved at each institution.
Log into your Careers Connect employer account, view any current or expired job and click 'preview job' and 'view publish details'.
Approval delay by university careers staff can occur for any reason, Careers Connect does not monitor or guarantee approval by each institution since this decision is made by the Careers Service staff at each institution. To obtain the approval status for each institution log into your Careers Connect account, view the job and click 'view publish details'. If you want to then follow up directly with the institution then go to Careers Connect Network to obtain university contact details so that you can discuss the delay directly.
Log into your Careers Connect employer account, view that job and click 'view publish details' for approval status for each university. If this confirms that they have not approved the vacancy then go to Careers Connect Network to obtain university contact details so that you can discuss any problems. Please keep in mind that sometimes email can be delayed or trapped in 'filters'.
When you distribute jobs through Careers Connect it mimics the process exactly as if you had logged in to each institution individually and submitted your job. The same university staff will review and approve it either way. Careers Connect simply acts as an easier and more efficient way to keep in contact with multiple universities at once. You can also go to our to Careers Connect Network page to obtain university contact details.
Careers Connect is commonly managed by the university Careers Service staff, although increasingly faculty members are also utilising Careers Connect as administrators. Unlike faculty noticeboards and email lists, ALL students at each university have access to Careers Connect by integration at a higher 'institution' level.
If you do have relationships with Faculty staff then we suggest you let them know that you have distributed the vacancy through Careers Connect and they can advise their students accordingly.
When a student becomes a graduate and no longer attends a university, their contact details are retained in that university's Careers Connect system. For example, Griffith University's student data goes back as far 1998, and University of Queensland to 2000. As a result, graduates and alumni still receive job notifications. Several universities have now created a category for 'experienced professionals' as a result of this growing sector of the candidate pool and the recognition that employers are seeking to contact these individuals. We expect this trend to increase as the value of contacting these experienced graduates is recognised.
Currently job adverts can only be entered in text however they will be automatically HTML formatted when presented to students. This is currently done for security reasons.
Basic formatting such as line breaks and bullets can be added and links to external website and email addresses will automatically be created.
Feature artwork and graphics depicting your organisation's brand can be added in a Careers Connect Employer Profile.
You may only feature artwork and graphics depicting your organisation's brand in a Careers Connect Employer Profile. Job distribution information does not permit graphics.
Careers Connect is the application used internally by most of the university Careers Service in both Australia and New Zealand. Careers Connect is a complete solutions with CRM and CMS functionality to manage relationships with Students and Employers and also disseminate other information such as events, appointment bookings, job details, info sheets, FAQ's, employer research materials etc. Careers Connect has been in operations since 1998 at some institutions.
Due to employer demand Careers Connect was created in 2007 and operates as a centralised web interface with each university's existing Careers Connect job notification system to make it easier for employers and recruiters to contact multiple universities about graduate vacancies in one quick and simple process.
All of the above job sites are for the 'general public' and their income stream is primarily based on the quantity of advertisements and users of the sites. When you advertise on these sites anyone from anywhere in the world can access and apply for your positions.
Careers Connect is a very targeted and specialised system which is integrated directly with each universities student system. The only individuals that can access jobs on Careers Connect are students of graduates of the institutions where you publish your vacancies to. Therefore it is completely targeted and you reduce the time-wasting applications and have more access to the exact market you are seeking for your student or graduate programs.
Careers Connect even knows what Discipline areas students/ graduates are in and will distribute and categorise your vacancies accordingly.
During the Careers Connect job publication process, you will be prompted to select certain study areas. Your selections will be matched according to the 'best fit' at each university as specified by the university careers service staff.
Students will nominate their interest and discipline areas and notifications will be sent to students via the Careers Connect Email news system.

We do not rely on marketing to get students to register with Careers Connect, and Careers Connect Central acts as a "clearing house" or distributor of employer's vacancies to all of the participating universities that use Careers Connect software. The majority of universities in Australia use Careers Connect to manage the advertising of jobs, employer profiles, events and other career-related information to their students. *certain universities charge an additional administration fee
CareerHub is developing an API which will enable integration with other multi-post systems. This will require a bit of tinkering.
